End of October. A Saturday morning and a cloudy day.

Shoot at Eastham Country Park on the Wirral, the other side of the Mersey. The weather was not promising anything good that morning… infact as we drove to the park it started to rain cats and dogs but I didn’t lose my hopes.

During the journey I saw in the sky among the dark clouds some blue and some bright light… little by little the storm was passing over and the sun starting to shine. Infact when we arrived at the location, after ten minutes that we parked the car… the clouds were disappearing and the sun was lighting the wet yellow leaves in the wood.

We worked mostly inside the forest with one speedlight, a reflector and an umbrella and at the sunset we moved on the banks of the Mersey.

It was a beautiful autumn day with warm lights and when we were going back home… it just started to rain again.

The location for this shoot were the Stanley Docks. This place is amazing. Old docks abandoned just few miles from Liverpool. They actually only do a market called ‘Sunday Heritage Market’ and nothing else… there were some people coming and doing photos or birdwatching… the place is amazing and when it was built in 1901 it was one of the largest of this area. Its construction used 27 million bricks, 30,000 panes of glass and 8,000 tons of steel (Wikipedia).

While I was there waiting for Becky doing her make-up with Natalie I met an old man. He started to talk about the place…about the Nazis that were using the place as an headquarter… and a very famous general officer that had his apartment there. After all his talking about war and Nazis… I actually was really happy I was there doing photos with Becky…

I have been to Iceland this summer…

This country is amazing… is just endless wild nature. There is a particular light there… I had to bring my camera with me all the time.

I worked with a fantastic model, Iris. We drove to Arnastapi, a small fishermen village north of Reykjavik. I was speechless during all the trip. I just wanted to stop the car every five minutes to take pictures.

We went near the coast, there were some amazing rocks and I asked Iris to climb them barefoot. She was brave enough to put her feet on some very sharp stones.

We moved to another location. The road was a desert, just few cars passing sometimes. I saw this beautiful mountain on the horizon and we just stopped the car in the middle of the road. I asked Iris to change clothes in the car… and when she was ready that road became a catwalk for her.

The shoot lasted six hours. It was half past midnight, Iris was freezing. But that was the moment I was expecting. The light in Iceland in the night. A dark cloudy blue sky…and my flash off-camera… and this was one of the last pictures I took…It was really cooold!
